Terms of Use

These conditions govern access to the website and its content. Reading a page, submitting a search, or otherwise continuing to use the service constitutes acceptance of every term below. Anyone who does not agree must stop using the website.

NO FCRA USE. This private website is independent of Wayne County, Illinois, and federal government offices. Neither it nor its advertising partners offers a service designed for decisions about credit, employment, insurance, tenant screening, or any other purpose governed by the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA). The site only identifies Wayne County and Illinois criminal-record resources. It is not a consumer reporting agency or a private investigation business.

1. What This Website Is

This privately operated reference is not connected to a government office. It neither stores official criminal records nor retrieves records, conducts official checks, or submits paperwork for a user.

The content identifies custodians for Wayne County records, including the sheriff and jail, Circuit Clerk, Illinois State Police Bureau of Identification, and Illinois State Police Sex Offender Registry. Illinois public-body requests follow the Illinois Freedom of Information Act, 5 ILCS 140, while the Uniform Conviction Information Act, 20 ILCS 2635, governs ISP dissemination of public conviction information. Certain pages also link to outside research services.

2. Rules for Using This Site

As a condition of access, a user must not:

  • Use the service in violation of federal, Illinois, or local law
  • Stalk, threaten, or harass a person with information obtained here
  • Rely on the content for a hiring, housing, credit, or insurance decision
  • Attempt unauthorized entry into any system or restricted area
  • Deploy a bot, scraper, or other automated collection tool against the pages
  • Interfere with performance or prevent another visitor from using the service

3. No Harassment, Stalking, or Discrimination

Information obtained here or through a linked service may not be used to threaten, stalk, harass, intimidate, or unlawfully discriminate against another person. Illinois restricts misuse of data published by the Illinois State Police Sex Offender Registry and may impose criminal penalties. The registry serves public safety awareness and gives no permission for vigilantism or confrontation.

4. We Are Not a Consumer Reporting Agency

This website is not a consumer reporting agency under the FCRA and does not create background checks, credit reports, or other consumer reports. Its advertising partners likewise do not provide tools intended to evaluate applicants, rental applications, insurance pricing, or creditworthiness. Information from these pages or a linked tool must not be used to:

  • Evaluate creditworthiness or establish an insurance premium
  • Make a decision to hire or terminate a person
  • Assess an applicant for housing or a rental
  • Decide eligibility for a permit, license, or public benefit
  • Carry out any other action regulated by the FCRA

For a purpose governed by the FCRA, the user must follow the applicable official procedure or retain a provider that complies with the FCRA.

5. No Legal Advice

Descriptions of Wayne County records provide general information, not legal counsel. Questions about how a warrant, charge, conviction, sealing rule, or expungement rule applies to individual facts should be directed to an Illinois-licensed attorney.

6. No Warranties

All services and content are offered "as is." No warranty is made that:

  • Outside search results will be complete or correct
  • The content will always be current, accurate, or complete
  • The website will operate continuously without interruption
  • The pages will contain no defect, error, or security vulnerability

Criminal records can change as charges are filed or dismissed and as records are sealed or expunged. Updates may therefore be delayed or incomplete. No statement here should be understood as an official representation by a sheriff, court, or other public agency.

7. Third-Party Services and Links

Links may point to court portals, sheriff websites, Illinois agencies, legal-aid resources, and independent search services. Following one transfers the visitor to a service outside our control. We are not responsible for that service's content, availability, price, or data practices. Its own terms should be reviewed before use.

8. Intellectual Property

The text, code, graphics, and logos displayed here belong to Wayne County Criminal History or its content partners. They may not be copied, adapted, distributed, or used to create derivative material without written authorization.

9. Limits on Our Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we disclaim liability for harm arising from use of the website, including a decision based on material found here or through an external service.

10. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold us harmless against a demand, claim, or proceeding caused by your use of the website or your breach of these terms, including associated costs and legal fees.

11. Governing Law

These terms are governed by Illinois law. Any dispute connected with use of the website must be filed in an Illinois court.

12. Changes to These Terms

These terms may be revised at any time. A revision takes effect when the updated text is posted on this page.

13. Cutting Off Access

Access may be suspended, restricted, or ended at any time and for any reason, without advance notice.

14. Severability

If a court finds one provision invalid or unenforceable, every remaining provision continues in effect. The affected language will be modified only to the extent required for enforcement.

15. Questions

Questions about these conditions may be submitted through the Contact page.
